Danny Meyer’s musical career started in England, in the early sixties. In 1970 he arrived in Australia where he formed the Newcastle band, ‘Nevada’. The band soon gained a huge following in the Hunter region and resulted in the release of two singles through EMI, ‘That’s Rock and Roll’ and ‘Wild Night’. ‘That’s Rock and Roll’ reached number three on the local 2NX charts. Both singles were produced by Martin Benge, formally of Abbey Road.
By the 1980’s Danny was fronting Sydney band, ‘Slippery When Wet’. This twelve piece outfit was made up of some of the country’s finest musicians such as Clive Harrison on bass guitar, formally of ‘Bootleg Family Band’, Mark Punch on guitar – Renee Geyer Band, Steve Murphy also on guitar – Kim Hart Band, Jay Stewart on keyboards – Kim Hart Band, as well as Rick Price on vocals, guitar and base. While performing with the band, Danny was approached by Pee Wee Wilson from ‘The Delltones’ and subsequently joined the band in 1982.
