January Board Update

On behalf of the Board, Management and Staff, I would like to wish everyone a successful 2022. The year 2022 will present a number of challenges to many of us. Please be ensured the Club is here to support our members where we can.

Whilst COVID-19 is continuing to effect everyday life, The Board would like to thank all of our members for their continued patronage and support to the Club. The Club will continue to do its best to provide a safe venue for our members and guests including:

· Sanitising all high touch surfaces throughout the club each day;

· Full sanitisation of the entire club using our Viraclean hospital grade disinfectant fogger at least twice a week;

· Constantly disinfecting mats and jacks for bowlers to use.

The current entry process into the Club will remain in place until any changes are issued by the State Government.

The Club has been able to finish the 2021 trading year with a healthy profit. As everyone is aware, The Board will continue to adopt strategies to manage any disruptions to its operations caused by the impacts of COVID-19.

As reported in the last update, The Board has been preparing on behalf of the members a new constitution. A Members Information Session will be organised in February to have both discussion and input by all Full members.

Adaptable Bowlers Area The stenciling for the concrete has been selected and ordered and is due to be completed soon.

The budget for the remainder of the project, being the Container, Roofing and Furniture has been agreed upon by the Board.

There has been a shortage of suitable containers available which has proven problematic and therefore a completion date is unavailable at this stage.

We have moved the external access point of the Children’s Play Area to face the Bowlers Area to allow parents the ability to better supervise their children when using the Bowlers Area.

Player Comfort Gaming Area Hutchinson’s Builders have commenced on site to extend our gaming floor to increase player comfort. These works are expected to be finished by June 2022. The Club will strive to achieve minimal disruption to our members whilst these works are being undertaken.

Solar Project Current data indicates that the Club is on track with payback expected within the projected 4-year payback period. To date, our data indicated we have saved 16,127 of CO2 emissions or the equivalent of 481 planted trees.

BOWLS PREMIER LEAGUE(BPL14)

The next instalment of BPL will be held at Moama from February 21 to February 25. I am sure you all will join the Board in wishing our Brisbane Pirates Team every success in this event. Due to COVID travel restrictions, Jo Edwards is unavailable for BPL 14 and will be ably replaced by the very talented Ellen Faulkner. So, with that being said, the Brisbane Pirates team is now Alex Marshall (Scotland), Ellen Falkner (England), Chris Rosanes (Club Pine Rivers) and Michael Breen (Club Pine Rivers – Manager).

Please note that BPL 15 will be held at Club Pine Rivers in May 2022 and it is sincerely hoped that Jo Edwards will be available for this event.

The Community Cup has been a great success since it induction a few months ago, inviting new bowlers to our game. The next Community Cup has been scheduled to commence in February 2022 on Monday Nights from 6pm. These games are played in a short, sharp, relaxed format designed for networking and mingling. The event welcomes all local sporting club, businesses, social clubs, corporations, charities or anyone in our community interested in creating a team and learning the great game of bowls.

Overall, the event is built for fun and it certainly lived up to that expectation, if you would like to create a team or learn more about how you can be a part of this FREE event. Contact Tyler at bowls@clubpinerivers.com.au for more information.
